Moose is Ben and Meagan's 3-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix (or Amstaff)
He's been with the Poiriers for nearly all three of his years.
"When we first picked him up, he was scared to even walk out our door," the Poiriers said in an Instagram post. "We slowly worked with him, easing from the porch, to the driveway, to the end of the road and so on. We introduced him to hiking fairly young and he thrived on it."
"Hiking saved all three of us in many ways. I'm so proud of how far he's come; he's hiked hundred of miles with us, wide smile and tail wagging. We're able to run, hike, attempt to enjoy the water (still workin' on that one!) together, daily. Our location, the scenery and the people around us change, but the bus (and our presence) remains constants for Moose - a source of comfort and home."
"Moose has grown so much over the past five months. He's sensitive and a real thinker, which can be challenging. He is the most sensitive and aware dog Ben or I have ever had. He thrives on routine and activity. The fact that we've been able to spend nearly ALL of our time with him has made us all happier. It's work, he's not perfect, but neither are we. He inspires us, motivates us and loves the mountains just as much as we do."
"Here's to all the adopted doggos out there who warm our hearts every dang day. Unconditional love is the best kind."
